Sophie Roberts has more than 14 years of experience as a copywriter in New York City. A born-and-bred Brooklynite (they do exist), Sophie worked as the lead copywriter for 10 years at NYC & Company (nycgo.com), the official advertising and marketing agency for New York City. During her tenure there, she created integrated marketing platforms to encourage global tourism to the City’s five boroughs, exceeding by four years Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s ambitious goal of 50 million annual visitors by 2015. She was integral to the agency’s two award-winning rebrands. In addition to naming major initiatives for New York City and creating taglines for myriad campaigns like NYC Restaurant Week and GreeNYC, Sophie also acted as a strategist and lead writer for partnerships with major brands and organizations, including American Express, American Airlines, JetBlue, NAACP, Nickelodeon and OpenTable.
Most recently, Sophie worked as lead writer on the Brooklyn Public Library’s campaign showcasing the institution’s investment in equity and its commitment to serving all its constituents, on the forthcoming strategic rebranding of Federal Hall, and on websites for destinations in California, Colorado, and Maryland.
Sophie (still) lives in Brooklyn with her husband, 7-year-old twin daughters and a 105-pound rescue dog from Alabama. She is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
